How can I access your services with current social distancing requirements?
Psychological services are considered an essential service. We will remain open to support your mental health and wellbeing throughout these challenging times. Our clinic is a quiet, calm and safe space. We have an outdoor reception area available for parents when they are waiting for their children, we are exercising 1.5m distancing between clients and practitioners both in clinic rooms and in reception, and we are following strict hygiene practices between each client.
We completely understand that accessing the clinic will not be an option for everyone. So, we are also providing telehealth, videoconferencing and home visits (distance limits apply) for our clients. This is unlikely to disrupt your access to Medicare rebates, though you should check with our receptionist when booking your appointment.
Do I need a GP Referral to see your Psychologist?
No, our specialists do not require a referral for consultation. However, if you’re concerned about out-of-pocket expenses, you can discuss your needs with your GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist.
Should your medical provider consider you eligible for a Medicare referral, you may have access to Medicare rebates that are subsidised by the Australian Government. You can also claim Private Health rebates (HICAPS) onsite at our clinic. Please check with your Private Health Fund for your general eligibility and cover.
Do you offer bulk-billed services?
Yes, but conditions apply. Bulk-billing services are only available with some of our psychologists and there may be a waitlist due to high demand.
Please note that Medicare rebates and bulk-billing are not availabe for assessment sessions.
My child is booked in for an assesment with Danielle through Speld QLD. Where will the asseement be held?
The assessment will be held at the Speld QLD office at 141 Merton Road, Woolloongabba (unless alternative arrangements have been arranged through Speld QLD). If you have any further questions regarding the assessment, it would be best to phone Speld QLD administration on (07) 3391 7900.
How old does my child need to be for an assesment or diagnosis?
Depending on the assessment you are looking to have, developmental delays could be formally detected as early as the age of four, while learning difficulties would best be assessed once the child has commenced formal learning, such as during year 1 of primary school. Older research may suggest waiting longer, but this delay is not necessary for a thorough assessment and diagnosis. If you see your child struggling in school, any age is certainly deserving to receive the support they require at that time.
Scope offers Developmental Screening for school readiness at kindy-age, and professional assessments with an Educational-Development-Psychologist to diagnose specific learning disorders from year 1 in primary school.
Is there parking at your Bulimba location?
We have select parking available in our building driveway, accessible from Quay Street, and there is ample on-street parking in the streets immediately adjacent to the building.(Quay Street, Coutts Street) Please make sure your select a spot that will allow for the entirety of your scheduled appointment, as there are a some spots limited to 1/4P or 2P. As with parking in any residential neighbourhood, please be kind to our neighbours and park in designated spots only without blocking any access to property driveways. We are also easily accessible by Ferry (Bulimba Ferry Terminal), and the #33 Stop on the 230/232 Bus route.
