At Scope Clinical & Educational Services, we offer developmental screening and school readiness services for students currently enrolled in Prep and Grade 1. This allows for early identification and intervention of educational and developmental concerns.
The primary purpose of screening is to obtain a broad sampling of a child’s skills and behaviours for one or more of the following reasons:
- To confirm school readiness.
- To identify students who should be referred for a more comprehensive assessment for either a disability, specific learning disorder or giftedness.
- To help determine the most appropriate initial placement or grouping of students in the classroom.
- To assist teachers in planning the most appropriate program for a student.
For each student that participates in the screening program, parents will receive a brief report outlining the child’s development of:
- Fine-motor skills
- Body awareness
- General Knowledge
- Language Development
- Gross-Motor Skills
The report will also include a summary and practical recommendations that are individualised for each child.
As part of a placement program hosted by Scope Clinical & Educational Services, and only with your express permission, a QUT student completing a Bachelor of Behavioural Sciences (Psychology) may observe the screening service.
If you would like your child to participate in the screening program please phone (07) 3162 8448 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
